TRIBUTE TO PETER STEHLI, PASSED 2 SEPTEMBER 2011All of us in AIT and FST are saddened to learn of the passing of Peter Stehli on 2 September 2011, after a long illness. Peter was the husband of Annabel Stehli, and stepfather to Georgie whose story of overcoming her autism was told so movingly by Annabel in the best-seller “The Sound of a Miracle”. This was the story that launched the world-wide interest in Bérard Auditory Integration Training, and led to the training of hundreds of practitioners throughout the world. Without Peter, I think we can accurately say there would have been no story of Georgie’s AIT success, since it was Peter’s job that had taken them to live in Geneva, Switzerland, from where Bérard’s centre in Annecy, France, was just across the border. I first met Peter and Annabel in Westport, Connecticut, USA, in September 1992 when they kindly allowed me to visit them to discover more about AIT. A brief chat was extended to become a dinner , and by the time this had ended we were friends. I will always remember his warmth and kindness towards me, when with great trepidation I made arrangements to train as a practitioner in Westport directly after the Georgiana Organisation’s “Celebration of Breakthroughs” conference held in Stanford, CT. After the training Peter rented a light aircraft to fly Mary-Jo and me up to the FC conference with Douglas Biklen in Syracuse, NY, just for the fun and to be helpful. What a sight it was flying over the Catskills to land over the flat terrain of Syracuse. Through various discussions after this, Peter was steadily kind, warm and encouraging at all times. I know all of us who knew him will miss him. a second group of professionals complete FST training for hungaryDuring August 2011 a second group of talented professionals completed their training in FST for Hungary. This time Rosalie visisted Budapest in person, relying on the interpretation skills of Agnes Jordanidisz once again. On the final day of this course, the previous set of interns joined with the newly-qualified practitioners to complete their listening test qualification and receive full certification. This group has impressed with their commitment and expertise, and we can expect great things for their clients. Thanks to Katalin Lakatos for the use of her centre, BHRG, and to the ICSA for their centre. FST now in hungary!A group of 14 talented professionals have been certificated as intern practitioners in Budapest as of the end of January 2011. This was made possibly through the magic of Cisco Webex, thanks to the translating skills of Agnes Jordanidisz, and the generous sharing of her premises at BHRG by Katalin Lakatos. This group will receive their full certification in June 2011 in Budapest when the training completes.
ready to take on the challenge!
